Seaweeds

Made by light
This series of photos was made on the seaside of North Cotentin, Hague and Val de Saire, in France.
I began this project in August, 2006, and I’m still working at it today.
These shots are taken at spring tides, in natural light, on the rocky foreshore.
They aren’t macrophotographies but close-ups.
In these fields of seaweeds, I’ve been catching the paintings that the sea makes up when withdrawing.
But these paintings are alive, all in movement, under the influence of the light swell of the low tide and the wind.
This is the moment when shapes, matters and colours reveal themselves into the light, a pictorial palette that spurs on creative imagination: landscapes, bodies, faces, imprints…
Each one sees its own nature in it.
